folk dance
The Humboldt Folk Dancers will be performing live at the International Folk Dance Party on Fridays from 8:00 to 10:30 p.m. at Redwood Lux World Dance Studio, 824 L Street, Arcata. The public is invited to.
The event will feature light dancing and an evening of international music with special guests from Chubritza, Balkan Music Meetup, Oregon State, Steve, Dan’l and Olof.
Everyone is encouraged to wear traditional costumes to celebrate the arrival of the Bulgarian folk holiday “Grandma’s Procession” (Baba Marta).

marsh tour
Friends of the Arcata Marsh will sponsor free tours of the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Refuge on Saturday.
Participants will meet leader Katie Allen in the lobby of the Interpretive Center on South G Street at 2 p.m. for a 90-minute walk focused on the wetland’s flora, history, and ecosystem. This event will be held rain or shine. For more information, call 707-826-2359.
quilt encounter
The Redwood Empire Quilters Guild will meet on March 7th at the Humboldt Grange, 5845 Humboldt Hill Road, Eureka.
The meeting will begin with social time at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Guests are invited. The program will include reports by grant recipients, presentations by business members, and the presentation of a quilt challenge with voting and awards.

Park work day
California State Parks will hold a Habitat Restoration Day from 9 a.m. to noon March 9 at Soumeg State Park, 4150 Patrick’s Point Drive, Trinidad.
Volunteers will remove invasive plant species such as English ivy from various parts of the park. Signs will be placed at the entrance station to indicate the location of each event within the park. Gloves and tools are provided.
Each participant will receive a day pass to Soumeg State Park. The event may be canceled due to rain or wind. All ages are welcome.
for teen coats
Humboldt County Teen Court (a program of the Boys & Girls Clubs) will host new teens in grades 8-12 on March 14 from 4:15-6:15 p.m. in the Boys & Girls Clubs’ Teen Court conference room. Free training will be held for volunteers. , 939 Harris St., Eureka.
Teen Court is a real court by teens for teens. It is based on restorative justice, community building, peer-led support and healing. Volunteers earn community service hours, help make a difference in the lives of other teens, and learn valuable life skills.

reconstruction event
California State Parks will host a habitat restoration volunteer event on March 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Western Rhododendron Restoration Area in Humboldt Lagoons State Park, 15336 US Highway 101 North, Trinidad.
Volunteers use hand tools to help remove competing vegetation from around the rhododendrons. Gloves and tools will be provided. The event may be canceled due to rain or wind.
All participants will receive a day pass to Soumeg State Park. Meet at the Stagecoach Azalea trailhead near Kane Road/Big Lagoon Ranch Road.
