In January, LittleBigPlanet 3’s servers briefly went down while the team at Sumo Digital worked through a nagging technical issue that made the game unplayable online. Now, it has been revealed that these issues have caused Sumo to permanently keep the game’s servers offline. The game is currently listed as “obsolete” on the PlayStation site, with a statement explaining the game’s playability status in 2014.
important message
on Twitterthe LittleBigPlanet team posted an “important message” about the future of LittleBigPlanet 3.
Due to ongoing technical issues, the LittleBigPlanet 3 server for PS4 was temporarily offline in January 2024, and the decision was made to keep the server offline indefinitely.
All online services, including access to other players’ creations in LittleBigPlanet 3, will be unavailable.
User-generated content stored locally on your PS4 will still be available. Any new UGC you create can be played on PS4, but it cannot be shared. Offline features such as campaigns will still be playable.
Thanks for your cooperation.
In a comment below the major update, the team thanked the community for their “continued love and support over the years.”
This marks the end of the last LittleBigPlanet game, as the only other titles released in the series since 2014 were spin-offs that didn’t share the LBP title. Fans of the series, which started on his PlayStation 3 in 2008, are understandably disappointed by this news and are urging someone, somewhere, to publish LittleBigPlanet 4.
