Losing weight may be difficult, but there’s one simple way to jump-start the process, experts say. That means you’ll lose unwanted belly fat and feel better in just a few days.
There’s just one catch. A simple way to do that is to stop eating the specific types of foods that Americans are addicted to. This is often out of necessity as our on-the-go schedules leave us with very little time at home in the kitchen. Prepare meals from a Mediterranean diet cookbook.
But one weight loss pro says you’ll be surprised what you can accomplish if you make an effort to cut down on this fat fuel and replace it with healthier alternatives. This is especially true in the abdomen, where fat tends to accumulate relatively easily and requires special attention. We often hang around much longer than any of us would like.
Lucy Jones is a nutritionist and chief clinical officer at UK weight management provider Oviva. She explained to the Daily Star that reducing your intake of “refined carbohydrates” can be a big help in the fight against bloating. Considering the havoc belly fat can wreak, not to mention its effects on internal organs, it’s a battle worth fighting. It increases your risk of heart disease and diabetes.
“Although it’s difficult to target specific areas of the body, research such as the Framlingham Heart Study shows that reducing your intake of sugar and refined carbohydrates and replacing them with whole grains can further reduce belly fat. There is some evidence that it can be done,” Jones said.
That means saying no to regular spaghetti or Italian subs on white rolls and swapping out whole-grain versions, such as whole-wheat pasta and dark sourdough bread. It is certainly healthy, but it also helps in the weight loss process.
A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition compared groups who ate whole grains with those who ate none at all, and found that those who ate refined carbohydrates lost slightly more weight, while those who ate whole grains lost slightly more weight. It was shown that “significantly more” could be dissolved from the abdomen. reported the Mirror.
