Protocall achieves 45% cost savings by migrating to Microsoft Azure environment designed and managed by Atmosera
Protocall Services (Protocall) is a national provider of telephone crisis services and behavioral health digital tools with a mission to help people in need. To improve the reliability, security, and scalability of its infrastructure, Protocolcall embarked on a multi-phase cloud migration. On-premises and colocation systems no longer provided the performance and agility required by Protocolcall, so he contacted his Microsoft partner, Atmosera, to design and manage a new environment based on Microsoft Azure.
“One of the benefits of working with Atmosera is that we are solely focused on Azure,” says Atmosera CEO Jon Thomsen. “That’s all we do every day. We’re experts.” However, that wasn’t always the case with Atmosera. In 2014, they embarked on a similar digital transformation journey that Protocol did a few years later. The company has evolved from a traditional data center and private cloud company to a modern, innovative service provider using Azure. Atmosera was one of the first partners to join the Microsoft Data Center Optimization (DCO) program, which it uses with customers such as Protocolcall.
Protocall designed the architecture based on Atmosera’s experience with Azure services. “The guidance on best practices for standing up cloud infrastructure was invaluable to us,” says Jérémie Bourque, Protocolcall’s Director of Software Engineering. “Without Atmosera, we probably would have wasted a lot of time experimenting and made the wrong choices.” Protocall migration makes Protocall more agile and secure, and helps keep application infrastructure up and running. Time is now effectively 100%. Many of Protocall’s business processes are now simpler, and Atmosera’s continued management of the Azure environment allows Protocall to focus on its mission.
