This is a central location that allows the retail giant to provide better and faster service to customers in Northern Iowa.
“We really think this is the ideal location for them. It’s the first distribution center like this in the area,” Mason Mayor Bill Sickle said.
Mason City leaders are excited about the economic opportunities Amazon will bring to the area.
“It’s great economics for a major national and international company like Amazon to choose your community,” said Chad Schreck, president and CEO. Northern Iowa Corridor Economic Development Corporation.
Having a local Amazon facility should speed up your order’s delivery time.
“At some point, same-day delivery may be possible because they bring the product in from a large distribution facility and it goes directly to the home from here,” Schreck said.
Local businesses will also benefit from the economic opportunities Amazon presents.
“Amazon is already here. This means additional jobs, additional property taxes, and an opportunity for independent businesses to become independent sellers,” Sickle said.
Amazon’s expansion into Mason City will be its largest investment to date and will help strengthen the growing local economy.
A groundbreaking ceremony will take place within the next month, and it is expected to take a year for the facility to be fully operational.
