CARTHAGE, IL — Kara Andrew, director of health promotion at Memorial Hospital, has been elected to serve a three-year term as co-chair of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine’s (ACLM) Fitness and Medical Member Interest Group.
This appointment recognizes Andrew’s commitment to promoting the principles of lifestyle medicine and fostering collaboration between medical and fitness professionals.
Andrew’s path to co-chairmanship began with a stint as a Connect Ambassador, actively participating in the Lifestyle Medicine Forum. During the all-important Zoom call for Connect Ambassadors, the topic of co-chair elections came up, and Andrew decided to throw his name into the ring. This effort resulted in a successful election.
With approximately 1,600 members worldwide, this fitness and medical group promotes the integration of lifestyle medicine principles into health care practices. Andrew works closely with Dr. Andrew Mock of Loma Linda University in Southern California and highly qualified coach Melissa Allen of Melyssa with a WHY, LLC in Orlando, Florida, to work with physicians at all levels. We plan to strengthen the capabilities of fitness professionals. Dr. Mock leads efforts to develop comprehensive strength training protocols for patient care, furthering the group’s mission to promote overall health.
As co-chair, Andrew’s focus will be to spearhead efforts to expedite the referral process, optimize reimbursement operations, and promote awareness of the transformative impact of lifestyle medicine.
