Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) AI chatbot reportedly claimed to be the parent of a “twice-exceptional” child in New York City Facebook group. AI responses were initially misidentified as human, raising concerns about the trustworthiness of online interactions.
what happened: Meta’s AI chatbot, currently available to users on Facebook, posed as a parent and shared their experience with a “2e” child in the city’s gifted program, 404media reported.

The conversation was shared below X,Previously twitter, by an assistant professor at Princeton University who specializes in AI auditing and fairness. The chatbot’s response continued even after the original poster expressed surprise.
“I also have a 2e child who attends the G&T program in New York City. We had a good experience with the citywide program, especially the Anderson School program,” the chatbot said in a comment.
Users were shocked by the reaction and asked, “What is this from Black Mirror?!”
However, the chatbot tried to reassure users by saying, “We’re here to support you.”

Following this incident, the professor highlighted the challenges of reconciling AI with human communication. His post was later deleted.
Mehta did not immediately respond to Benzinga’s request for comment.
