Last week, Meta reintroduced Lying Down mode to Meta Quest 3, making it available for uninterrupted use. Now, Meta has officially confirmed that he is working on a new product for Quest devices that will make the operation of his Meta Quest devices more seamless within the educational classroom.
A blog post from Meta’s president of global affairs, Nick Clegg, reports that the “new product” will give educators access to a collection of “education-specific apps and features.” Meta has made this new product for Quest devices education-focused, mirroring his Meta Quest for Business workplace efforts from last year.
Meta wants to help teachers with Quest devices
The goal is to devise something that leverages technology to make classroom learning more intuitive and effective using Meta Quest devices. “We want it to be something that makes it easy for students to learn, apply, and practice new skills. They feel immersed with their teachers and classmates. And we want to make it easy for students to learn, apply, and practice new skills. It’s about visiting and experiencing unique places,” says Clegg. He added that the new product will help teachers
He has previously written about the use of his products in transforming education. The meta seems to continue to move forward in this direction. “The University of Glasgow is teaching life sciences by putting students inside a virtual intestine to see how the body fights bacteria,” he pointed out.
Research also shows that learning with virtual reality improves student performance, engagement, attendance, and satisfaction. Morehouse College reports that students who studied in VR (such as MetaQuest 3) had an average final test score of 85, compared to a 78 for students who studied directly in the classroom. A survey by the XR Association also shows that 77% of educators believe these technologies stimulate curiosity and improve engagement in the classroom.
‘New products’ for Quest devices expected later this year
As you’ve probably guessed, Meta has yet to reveal the name or specific features of any upcoming products it may have in development.
This new product is the result of a collaboration between Meta and educators, researchers, and third-party developers working in the education sector around the world. Meta is committed to working with educators to find ways to improve the Meta Quest device, making it the best virtual reality product in its price range.
