Mehta on Tuesday launched a brand new ‘Let’s Know the Truth’ campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of countering misinformation. Through this campaign, the company hopes to raise awareness on how to spot and respond to false content on WhatsApp and Instagram.
“Meta is committed to combating misinformation online. We are committed to creating a robust network of independent fact-checkers who debunk false claims and ensure citizens have access to trusted information. , has invested in industry-leading programs, including working with MCA to launch a service that feeds information into WhatsApp. This campaign is an extension of our ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of misinformation and serves as a simple safety guide to educate people about the role they can play in combating misinformation. ” said Public Policy Director Shivnath Thukral. Know What’s Real is an eight-week campaign that focuses on product features and WhatsApp safety measures such as blocking and reporting and forwarding labels. This incentivizes users to utilize fact-checking organizations on WhatsApp channels to review content they deem false or questionable.
Meta-checkers and fact-checkers work together to provide a wealth of information. If we discover something that resembles a deepfake, we will add a warning label to our app to alert users that it is false. Meta also limits its scope to reduce the number of individuals reading content that fact checkers flag as false. To verify the information, the company would like to encourage consumers to report false information to its complaint handler or its independent fact-checking partners.
The social media giant’s fact-checking operation, led by Mark Zuckerberg, operates in India in collaboration with 11 independent fact-checking organizations that can verify content in 15 Indian languages in addition to English.
