Like the entire technology industry, Meta sees tremendous value in artificial intelligence (AI). The company has invested heavily in his Llama AI model and has released Llama 3, which is even more powerful than the previous version. In fact, Meta calls it “the most intelligent AI assistant available for free.”
With the release of Llama 3, Meta is even more integrated than before. The company announced in a blog post that it will integrate new AI models with Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp through the Meta AI Assistant. You will no longer be able to avoid Meta’s ChatGPT competitor as it will appear directly in your main Facebook feed. If you want to try it out without using the company’s social media apps, visit Meta.ai.
“Use Meta AI on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger to get things done, learn, create, and connect with what matters to you,” the company said in a blog post.
Meta is also rolling out this AI assistant in more countries. Currently, people from Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe will be able to interact in English. Expect more locations to be added in the future, as the company says it’s “just getting started.”
Speaking of new features in Meta’s new AI model, it seems to build on the features used in Llama 2 to make it smarter.
Meta claims that its AI models create images faster than before. Images can now be generated on input. You can also tell it to animate the image you created to get a cool GIF of her. I tried it and it was surprisingly fast. I had to ask for a few edits to get the image I wanted, but the end result was some impressive art. In fact, Meta says the images produced are also sharper and higher quality, and from what I’ve seen, I’d have to say the company is right on this point.
Beyond image generation, you can use Meta AI to plan a night out, find information about a topic, help decorate your home, solve math problems, get real-time search information on the web, and more. functions are available. We expect well-trained AI models.
Integration into Facebook itself also sounds interesting. Mehta gives the example of seeing Aurora’s post. “If you see a photo of the Northern Lights in Iceland, you can ask Meta AI when is the best time to see them,” the company’s blog post says.
