Let’s face the facts. Many of us are bad at handwriting. For them, using a stylus to take notes in the OneNote app for Windows means the digital text may become unreadable. Now, Microsoft is trying to help these people. New features in the OneNote Windows app that you can test out for members of the Microsoft 365 Insiders program.
Microsoft announced in a blog post that it has added handwriting correction to the OneNote app for Windows. It says:
Handwriting straightening transforms handwritten, inked text, making it visually more organized and consistent. It also improves the readability of the ink in your notes without sacrificing the style or personality of your handwriting, and is a great way to quickly clean up your notes before rereading or sharing them.
Insiders can open an existing notebook or create a new notebook in an app with digital ink to draw Click the tab to start taking handwritten notes with digital ink. Just tap on a line of text to straighten words. this is, lasso selection Select an option, then straighten choice.
This new feature has some limitations. Currently not available for individual digital ink words. It also cannot be used in formulas, tables, or images within the app. Additionally, digital highlighter ink and underlining are not allowed. Finally, this feature currently only works with characters written in the Latin alphabet.
Microsoft 365 Insider members in the Beta Channel can now try out the handwriting correction feature in OneNote on Windows version 2404 with build number 17530.20000 or later. This feature has not been added to the OneNote for Windows 10 app. There’s no word on when this feature will be generally available.
