A recent update to the beta build of Microsoft Copilot brings the AI assistant to the forefront of Android smartphones, allowing it to replace Google Assistant and Bixby as your preferred digital assistant.
Google’s Android doesn’t restrict users to using Google Assistant only as their default digital assistance. For a while, if you had a Samsung device, you had a choice between Google’s Choice or Bixby, and even Amazon or DuckDuckGo. Google still allows users to replace Assistant with the AI-powered Gemini (the latest version of what was once Bard). The only thing missing is Microsoft Copilot.
The latest digital assistant to grace your Android smartphone is finally Microsoft Copilot. This is an AI app that uses ChatGPT to show you her web results and answer your questions. Copilot also has incredible image generation tools that leverage the latest work from DALL-E.
New Beta – 27.9.420225014 – First spotted Mishal Rahman, Copilot adds itself to the list of digital assistants available for mobile phones. Users can now choose to engage Microsoft Copilot when they hold the power button or, in some cases, swipe up from the bottom corner of their phone. Previously, Google Assistant and her Bixby were displayed, but now the Copilot app will start.

The shortcuts in their current format need some work. Rather than appearing in a small overlay box with useful chat features, the shortcut opens the app. This is something you can easily bring down by just tapping anywhere else. Future versions may include a more seamless UX. After all, this is a beta version.
Adding Copilot to the list of Android digital assistants positions the AI app as a true competitor to Google Assistant. It’s easy to imagine that in future builds, the Copilot app will become a rusty aid for most Android users.
