The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a notice released Tuesday that Ford is recalling more than 450,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to issues that may affect batteries.
This recall affects certain 2021-2024 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles. NHTSA states that the body and powertrain control modules in these vehicles may not be able to detect changes in the battery’s state of charge, resulting in loss of electrical accessories such as hazard lights and loss of drive power, which could result in an accident. He said that there is a possibility of an increase. Risk of collision.
According to the NHTSA notice, dealers will recalibrate the body control module and powertrain control module free of charge. Ford recalls Bronco Sport, Escape model also recalled due to fuel leak
Federal motor vehicle regulators also recently announced they would investigate Ford’s recall of approximately 42,652 vehicles due to cracked fuel injectors that could cause gas leaks and engine fires.
In a summary report released last week, NHTSA said it will begin investigating a recall affecting 2022-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022 Escape vehicles.
Owners can take their cars to a Ford or Lincoln dealer and have a drain tube installed for free, the federal investigation says.
Federal regulators report that the relief package also includes a free update to engine control software to detect pressure drops in the fuel injection system. When this happens, the software disables the high-pressure fuel pump, reduces engine power, and reduces the temperature in the engine compartment. Owners will also see a “Please Seek Service” message, according to the document.
