The animated film Overlord: Holy Kingdom was first announced in May 2021, but the news has been pretty hit and miss since then. But now, it seems like the marketing for this movie is finally heating up. After getting the first teaser earlier this year, Studio Madhouse has released an epic new poster, which you can see below.

The film is scheduled to be released in Japan in 2024 (though no specific date has been set yet) and will be based on the Holy Kingdom arc of the novel written by Kugane Maruyama and So-Bin. The voice actor cast includes Satoshi Hino as Ainz Ooal Gown, Yumi Hara as Albedo, and Masayuki Kato as Demiurge.
The film is produced by Studio Madhouse, the Japanese animation studio behind shows and films such as Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Parasyte: The Maxim, and Death Note. So it’s safe to say that the hype for this one was pretty high, especially after the first trailer showed fan-favorite character Demiurge wearing an interesting mask outside of the Holy Kingdom.
The first four seasons of the series are available on Crunchyroll, although no release date has been announced here yet. It follows a veteran player of an MMORPG game who refuses to log off when he learns the game will be shut down. Instead, he decides to join the game and become its new ruler.
