Many TV and movie fans were thrilled by the reunion of various celebrities spotted at this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards. The awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles over the weekend, with Cillian Murphy winning Best Actor for Oppenheimer, Jeremy Allen White winning Best Actor in a Comedy Series for The Bear, and Steven Yeun winning Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Beef. He won the Best Actor Award.
Throughout the night, many famous Hollywood stars took to the stage to announce the winners or collect their awards. Many celebrities from Breaking Bad, Modern Family and The Devil Wears Prada were also spotted reuniting on stage, which understandably sent fans into a frenzy.
One of the most thrilling reunions of the night was between The Devil Wears Prada cast members Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt. Streep, 74, appeared alone on stage for the first time to accept the Best Actor in a Comedy Series award.
Ms. Hathaway, 41, and Ms. Blunt, 41, told the audience that they had forgotten their glasses and an envelope, then went on stage to hand Streep their lost items. The moment reflected their iconic role as assistants to Streep’s character Miranda Priestly in the 2006 hit film.
Four years after the show ended, the cast of Modern Family was also seen on stage to present the award for Best Comedy Ensemble. Sofia Vergara (51), along with fellow former actors Ed O’Neal (77), Ty Burrell (56), Julie Bowen (53), Eric Stonestreet (52) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (48) has been added.
Fans were also delighted to see The Lord of the Rings trilogy stars Elijah Wood and Sean Astin side by side on stage. Twenty years after the final film in the trilogy won the prestigious Best Actor Award, the pair gave a stunning performance in tuxedos.
Breaking Bad fans were also happy to meet original cast members of the hit HBO series at the 2024 ceremony, 10 years after the hit show ended. Bob Odenkirk, R.J. Mitte, Anna Gunn, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Jonathan Banks, Betsy Blunt and Dean Norris took to the stage to present the award for Best Ensemble Drama Series. Breaking Bad also won awards for its final season in 2014.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, viewers were overjoyed at all the reunions. Itgirlenergy posted, “The Devil Wears Prada reunited at her SAG Awards tonight, and Meryl Streep actually wore Prada!”
“The Devil Wears Prada, Modern Family, and Breaking Bad are all reuniting at the SAG Awards…The next thing we need is Freaks and Geeks,” Jusaim said. Amy Brooksheimer yelled, “Oh my god, The Devil Wears Prada, we’re reuniting at the SAG Awards, everyone shut up!”
The sheer set thinker added, “‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ ‘Modern Family,’ and ‘Breaking Bad’ reunited. No one was impressed at the SAG Awards, and I love it.” Ludgatesfilm praised the show, saying, “Tonight, the cast of ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Breaking Bad’ reunite at SAG…The best awards show of all time #SAGAwards.”
