As a quick refresher, the MSI Claw comes in a very familiar form factor. There’s nothing new about the handheld’s design, but it’s its internals, specs, and performance that make it a worthy champion ahead of Valve in the market. The MSI Claw is powered by Intel’s latest chip, which was announced last month and has been rolled out in all new announcements at CES 2024. The new Meteor Lake processors used here are all-encompassing, especially starting with the Core Ultra 5 in the base 512GB model. Right down to the Core Ultra 7 155H chipset.
Battery life is also a big area where the Claw stands out compared to previous gaming handsets. The capacity is large at 53Wh, itself one of the largest batteries in this weight class. In practice, this means that the updated cooling features help prevent your system from thermally throttling even under more intense loads, allowing around 2 hours of gaming per session. . Other perks include a 7-inch 120Hz IPS 1080p display with 500 nits of brightness and VVR support, a pair of Hall-effect joysticks, and a Thunderbolt 4 port.
