Yes, this is it.This is the game we expected when the cult classic was remade final fantasy 7 was announced for the first time. We’ve dreamed of seeing our favorite characters like Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Sephiroth and more in his amazing playable 4K.and in between Final Fantasy VII Remake Although that promise has been partially fulfilled, Final Fantasy VII Reverse May your dreams come true completely.
where FF7R padded felt, FF7RB It’s just completely packed. There’s a lot to do, but it never feels overwhelming. The pace of gameplay moves seamlessly from exploration to combat to mini-games and back into a dynamic and satisfying loop.
Full disclosure, as of this writing, I’m about 60 hours into the game. Acquired all playable party members revealed in previous news and events. We haven’t finished the game yet so I can’t spoil it. Review code was provided by the publisher.
Let us introduce you to our journey. Final Fantasy VI Reverse so far.
A whole new (open) world
One of our biggest promises is FF7RB It’s about the world opening up and really opening up just like in the original game. However, instead of an actual large open world, what the team at Square Enix did was create an open zone for players to freely explore. The setting is perfect for this world and story.
Open zones are littered with activities whose rewards can be useful in battle. Some of them may be optional, but it is wise to play them to increase your chances of winning the game.
These activities are called World Intel. Our favorite researcher, Chudley, is back to facilitate this mechanism. The World Intel is full of different activities with mini-stories. Some people find it essential, others don’t. Each activity ends with a meaningful reward, and none of it feels like a chore.
World Intel and Quest are different, but connected. Some quests require you to check off certain items from World Intel. Those labeled quests are completely optional.
The first open zone you enter is a grassland. If you want to experience the bulk of what the game has to offer, it’s wise to complete the entire World Intel and quests in this area.
Here you’ll learn about combat mechanics, the card game Queen’s Blood, unlocking summons, getting chocobos, and more. The best part is that all questlines are of high quality. They are all voice-acted and include unique cutscenes that range from funny to epic.
exploration inspiration
There was a report that FF7RB Inspired by games such as Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn. If you’ve played any of these games, the inspiration will be obvious.
You may have already seen a preview in which you need to activate towers to identify key locations in open zones. Activating towers is key to completing World Intel activities, but some of these activities can be encountered without knowing exactly where the towers are.
For example, if the LifeSpring area is nearby, you can hear the birds and be guided to the location. It’s a lot like finding a hot spring to rest in Ghost. of Tsushima.
A similar mechanism applies to stopping chocobos, allowing them to rest and recover HP and MP. A cute little chocobo will be nearby, encouraging you to follow. Afterwards, we will guide you to the Chocobo stop.
The level of presentation is just as good, if not better. Horizon Zero Dawn. All questlines are fully voice-acted, look great, and don’t feel like throwaway side quests.
unlock summons
One of the key activities in World Intel that you’ll definitely want to see through is the one that unlocks summons. In the open zone you will find glowing relics that need to be destroyed. After being broken, the light escapes and leads you to more glowing relics until you find your way to the Temple of Summoning.
You must do this at least three times in one open zone. Every time you unlock a shrine, you get the option to face a weakened version of the summon. Even in a weakened state, summoning battles can be difficult, so it’s always a good idea to do this.
Also, summoning is synchronized with your level, so you don’t have to struggle with it.
queen’s blood
Queen’s Blood is a new card game. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. This is definitely something you’ll want to learn, and some great moments and dialogue happen throughout this game.
I’ll leave it to the game to explain the mechanics. But one tip we can share is to always try to keep pushing to increase the areas where you can drop cards. It gets pretty difficult as you level up, but it’s rewarding once you start accumulating wins and ranking up.
Like most side activities in this game, Queen’s Blood is full of fun moments as well as a mysterious and interesting overarching story.
mini game mania
Game director Naoki Hamaguchi wasn’t kidding when he said there would be no shortage of minigames in Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth. There’s literally a mini-game at almost every turn, keeping the entire gameplay fresh and fun. Most importantly, these exist in both the main story, World Intel activities, and quests.
By definition, a minigame is anything that doesn’t include both combat and exploration. These place players in unique situations that can only be achieved by completing tasks within the rules of the mini-game.
FF7RB is littered with these, but the best part is that they fit seamlessly into the world and gameplay structurally. You’ve already experienced one of them in the demo. The piano playing part is completely skippable, but works in the context of the story, world, and game in general.
Other mini-games are also tied to the story, turning ordinary boss fights into thrilling encounters. I won’t say more because it could be a spoiler, but this game will throw a lot at you, so brace yourself.
gold saucer
You can’t talk about minigames without mentioning the Gold Saucer. If you’ve played the OG games, you already know what to expect. There are tons of things to do here, some of which lead to incredible rewards.
The Gold Saucer is one of the most enjoyable segments of the game thanks to the variety of gameplay you can experience there.
Racing, boxing, shooting, everything. You name it, Gold Saucer probably has it.
And yes, the whole thing is structured as a date. Who you go with will depend on how you relate to each party member.
bonds and relationships
Your relationships with your party members change through combat as well as several key conversation moments. Their reaction to how you answer will be very telling, so choosing the appropriate response during key conversational moments should be relatively easy.
Another element is combat. Specifically, synergy abilities. We’ll go into more detail about this later, but basically the more times you use a synergy ability with a particular party member, the deeper your relationship with them becomes.
Although you can’t change your answers retroactively, you can check your bond status with party members at any time by pressing a button while exploring.
Let’s synchronize
Synergy abilities are the biggest addition to combat. FF7R to FF7RB. We got a taste of it in his InterMISSION DLC featuring Yuffie and Sonon, but it’s expanded upon significantly in this game.
This is introduced early in the game when dealing with events that occur in Callum. The way it works is that each combination in the party has its own synergy. They also have different effects. Some expand your ATB gauge, others for damage, and others for defense and counters.
To unlock synergy abilities and level up, you need access to folios (basically the game’s skill trees). Each battle earns you points that can be used in these folios. Then, as you level up by acquiring weapons and skill arts items unique to each party member, your folio will expand.
Synergy abilities are like additional skills that you can perform during combat. There are also sub-skills that can be executed every time. Just hold down the block button and press the corresponding button to perform the lower skill.
On the other hand, there are also special attacks similar to Limit Break. These synergies can often help turn the tide of battle or quickly deal with enemies. However, these special attacks take time to become available. The synergy ability gauge appears as his four small indicators below the ATB gauge.
It’s also not that difficult to manage. Combat action and tactics work seamlessly together. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The best way to think about this is to hack it normally and then unleash it on your opponent like Limit Break when it becomes available.
Visual presentation, dialogue, music
In the first demo released, the game’s blurry performance mode created a buzz online. Our recommendation is to play Final Fantasy VII Reverse in graphics mode. If you’ve been captivated by the cutscenes in Final Fantasy games on PlayStation 1 and have been hoping for the day when the visuals are playable, we’re here. The time has come.
FF7RB In graphics mode, it literally looks like you’re playing through these cutscenes. Yes, it’s not necessarily new in the gaming world, especially considering the Horizon and Death Stranding franchises already exist. But for those who grew up playing the first Kanojo 3D, Final Fantasy In-game, some of the visuals here look unrealistic.
Similar attention is given to dialogue and music. The dialogue is well written, perfectly executed, and matches the tone of each scene without detracting from the overall tone of the game.
While you’d expect that from the main storyline, just as much attention is paid to the sideline stories. Madame M’s line in particular was very cheeky and I can imagine how much fun it was to put these words together.
The music, on the other hand, is truly phenomenal. Remix/rework versions of some tracks you’ve already heard. Final Fantasy VII Remake New soundtracks are also included, ranging from brooding to absolutely energizing. What stands out here is the music for Junon’s frog mini-game. Do not miss it.
Final Fantasy VII realized
Final Fantasy VII Reverse This is the game everyone envisioned when they remade the original. Final Fantasy VII was announced for the first time. Packed with mini-games, activities, and questlines worth your time, it also includes a main story that is mesmerizing, captivating, and awe-inspiring.
In both overall gameplay and presentation, this is near perfect. I don’t usually keep score, but if you need to, FF7RB An easy 10/10. This production is the perfect combination of heartfelt scenes, breathtaking scenery, fun adventures, and an epic story that will resonate with anyone who encounters it. In this work, FF7 I really feel like I’ve been reborn.
Final Fantasy VII Reverse will be released for PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024.
