(Reuters) – Netflix said on Wednesday Dan Lin, one of the producers of the hit mystery thriller “Sherlock Holmes” and The Lego Movie, will replace Scott Stuber as head of its film division.
The film industry veteran will become chairman of Netflix Film starting April 1, reporting to Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s chief content officer.
The announcement comes more than a month after Netflix announced in March that it was leaving the streaming service to form its own media company.
The company said Lin and Netflix have previously collaborated on projects including the Oscar-nominated film “The Two Popes” and the live-action series “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
Lin, who is leaving Los Angeles, California-based production company Rideback, said he had been approached by Netflix multiple times in the past to join the video streaming company.
Prior to founding Rideback, Lin spent eight years as a senior production executive at Warner Bros. Pictures, overseeing the production of films including Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning drama “The Departed.”
