Netflix viewers are in meltdown after discovering Australia’s “brilliant” teenage romantic comedy, with many fans demanding another season of the show.
Created by Hannah Carol Chapman, Heartbreak High School centers around several Hartley High School students who must deal with the fallout from a public sexual relationship.
After it is revealed that Amelie (Ayesha Maddon) is responsible for the “incest map” that reveals everyone’s sexual history, the students are forced to attend a compulsory sex education class and are forced to becomes an outcast of society.
But the intrusive public map isn’t the only thing bothering the teenager who was punched in the face by longtime best friend Harper (Asher Jasvinczek), though she doesn’t know why.
The first season comes to a shocking end, following the stories of Harper, Amelie, Malachi (Thomas Weatherhall), Quinn (Chloe Hayden), Kash (Will McDonald), and Darren (James Majou).
And the show’s second season brought just as much drama to Netflix fans.
Amelie and Harper may have repaired their broken relationship, but they were still dealing with the aftermath of season one.
Harper struggles to find some sense of normalcy as her attacker faces trial.
Amelie still feels socially excluded, unable to fit in with the eccentric students at Hartley High School.
Issues also emerge within their circle of friends as Darren struggles to overcome his relationship with Kash and his asexuality.
Meanwhile, Malachi and Amelie’s relationship begins to unravel as a complicated love triangle emerges between them and their queer Aboriginal friend Missy.
But when the school goes up in flames, the series is left on a cliffhanger, leaving much to the imagination as to how the third installment will play out.
Fans have been blown away by the reboot show’s second season, with some calling it “the best season of Netflix’s best show.”
“Heartbreak High, you win another international Emmy for doing this shit. That’s how you do season 2,” one fan raved.
“You better give me Season 3 #HeartbreakHigh,” chimed a second.
A third person chimed in, “Looks like he’s the only one.” It’s the best show on Netflix. ”
“The high of heartbreak is what Never Have I Ever and Sex Education wanted,” another commented.
“Heartbreak Hi! I swear, I’ve never felt so well represented and covered so many subjects so well.”
“I might watch ‘Shitsuren High S2’ again to feel like family…” a user wrote.
One person commented on her amazing skills in the wardrobe department, adding: “I need Harper’s entire closet because the wardrobe is so expensive it breaks my heart.”
Another begged the streaming platform for another season: “Please Netflix renew Heartbreak for season 3.”
