Netflix made a lot of noise about not developing an app for the Apple Vision Pro headset, or even offering an iPad version. But rather than be forced to use a web browser to watch a stripped-down version of Netflix, one developer decided to create his own Vision Pro-centric version of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. .
super cut is designed to bring both services to Apple’s headset, but there are none of the downsides to streaming Netflix within the Safari browser or using Amazon’s converted iPad app. It’s a native window, so it eliminates annoying letterboxing and puts all your favorite shows and movies right in front of you.
Even better, it also offers 4K resolution, along with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, along with common features like playback controls, subtitles, audio output settings, and user profile switching. Broadly speaking, some of the latter aren’t all that impressive, but in the absence of a native Netflix app for the Vision Pro, they’re actually quite important.
As The Verge points out, Supercut doesn’t offer any additional immersive environments, only the system-level environments already available in the VisionOS software. It looks like these are included development The next version will do that, but for now you’ll be watching Netflix and Prime with floating video. Again, this is definitely better than the current alternatives.
You have to pay $5 to download Supercut. However, this is a one-time fee and may be worth the money if you find your current method of watching Netflix or Prime Video on your Vision Pro headset too restrictive. Of course, if you actually want to watch it, you’ll need to have active subscriptions to both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
We haven’t been able to try Supercut ourselves yet, but needless to say, we hope this inspires Netflix and Amazon to collaborate and come up with an official Vision Pro app for the service.
