Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series has, almost predictably, caused a huge divide among fans. Some liked the changes made to the source material, but others wished they had spent time and money creating more animated content within the world of Avatar. If you fall into the latter group, you’ll be happy to know that your wish will soon come true, as the Gyan family will receive the Avatar: The Last Airbender series of films from the creators of the original series starting in 2025. It will be.
The creators of the original series never left the series completely after they left Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender in June 2020, citing “creative differences.” In February 2021, it was announced that Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko would become co-chief creative officers of Nickelodeon’s newly created Avatar Studios. Avatar Studios will focus solely on creating new animated content within the Avatar universe, with three new films scheduled for production.
We don’t know much about what these three movies will be about, but the first one will follow the adventures of the adult Anne and her friends, and will serve as a bridge between the original series and The Legend of Korra. There is no doubt that it will play a similar role. The animated film “Avatar” has not yet been officially titled, but it is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 10, 2025. We expect the film to be released simultaneously or either on Paramount+, which hosts most other Nickelodeon properties. Immediately after.
