What you need to know
The Pistons have quite a challenge ahead of them as they are expected to be blown off the court. They will be on the road to take on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Monday at 7:30pm ET. The Pistons come into this matchup limping on a five-game losing streak.
The Pistons suffered their first loss on Saturday since January 12th. They fell just short of Orlando with a score of 112-109. Unfortunately, the Pistons continued their disappointing trend against the Magic, with the Pistons losing five in a row.
New York, on the other hand, fell behind the Celtics by a wide margin on Saturday, losing 116-102.
The Knicks’ loss came despite a quality game from Jalen Brunson, who nearly achieved a double-double with 34 points and nine assists. Brunson didn’t do much for the Knicks against the 76ers on Thursday, but the same can’t be said for this game.
It was Detroit’s third straight home loss, dropping its record to 8 wins and 48 losses. New York has been on a rough road lately, losing five of their last six games, putting a noticeable dent in their 34-23 record this season.
The Pistons fell short in their last game against the Knicks in November 2023, losing 118-112. A big factor in the loss was Brunson’s dominant performance, as he made 7 of 12 from beyond the arc for 42 points and eight assists. The Pistons know the damage he can cause, so will they be able to stop him this time? He’s the only way to know.
