Netflix frequently licenses content from other sources, which often ends up being a big hit for the service. Perhaps the most famous example of these is Manifest. This kept him at number one for several weeks and garnered so much interest that he actually got the green light for the entire final season. And, of course, Suits, which has been watched for millions of hours, has inspired a new spin-off set in LA.
But this week, Netflix added two great shows: Killing Eve and Black Sails. And what I want to talk about is Black Sails. Because I believe this is the best series, complete series, that Netflix has added this year. And it’s clear that not enough people are watching it.
Black Sails is currently only number 8 on Netflix’s Top 10 list after its debut, but I don’t think it’s ever been much higher. And it’s a farce. It’s a great series, and arguably the best pirate show ever made (sorry to “Our Flag Means Death”), but it was originally released in 2014 to 2017, and everyone’s 4 Most people missed it because it was broadcast on Starz, which is their favorite premium channel.

Now that Netflix finally has it, you can see how great it is. Admittedly, the series doesn’t have a cast of big-name actors, but it does elicit great performances from its lead cast, including Toby Stevens, Hannah New, Zach McGowan, Luke Arnold, and Jessica Parker Kennedy. I am.
The story centers on Stevens’ character Captain Flint (a fictional pirate from Treasure Island), and the entire series recreates fragments of that classic story, functioning primarily as a prequel. John Silver is played by Luke Arnold, but the series has added many new characters like Charles Vane, played by McGowan, and historical pirates, like Anne Bonny, played by Clara Paget. It has been.
This series is great, full of drama, romance, betrayal, intense action, and violence and nudity befitting the pirate setting. The person who says have If you watch this series, you’ll understand how great it is. It has an excellent rating of 8.2 on IMDB (trust me, that’s a very high number for IMDB) and is ranked in the 80s on Rotten Tomatoes by both critics and viewers.
I don’t want to spoil too much about the series because there’s so much to discover as it unfolds, but when it comes to period dramas, what Vikings are to pirates, what Deadwood is to cowboys, and what Game of Thrones is to what? Enter the world of fantasy dragons. This is great, but I don’t know when we’ll see a pirate series of this caliber. Check it out.
