At Polygon, we love movie recommendations. Whether it’s horror, sci-fi, action, comedy, thrillers, or the best of the year, we’re always looking to bring you new and exciting movies that our readers will love. But now we want to find the perfect movie for you. (That is you.)
Every Thursday at Polygon, we launch a dedicated open thread to help our dear readers find the perfect watch for the weekend. Looking for a sci-fi movie that will make you think deeply about the wonders (or horrors) of the world? We’ve got you. Do you want to improve your world cinema experience? How about some comforting food? You are there too.
From 3:30pm to 5:30pm EDT, we’ll answer your questions and respond to requests for things to watch this weekend in the comments section below. This is also a great place to share what you’re watching and talk about it with fellow Polygon readers. You are welcome to participate even if you have no questions.
Let me tell you a little about me, this week’s curator. I’m Pete Bork, Senior Curation Editor. I love movies of all genres, but my main areas of interest are action movies (particularly martial arts), classic Hollywood comedies (Shout out to the GOAT, Ernst Lubitsch), and checking out new releases from around the world ( I have watched 155 movies in 2023, and 26 from 2024 so far).
Last week I watched a thriller on Netflix hunter’s heartJake Johnson’s bizarre dark comedy independence, drive away dolls (So much fun!), and bricklayer.I’m done too Physics: 100 – Underground, started fall outcaught up with Delicious even in a dungeon, general, game changer, chuckyand task master. All TVs were good!
Now it’s time for you to change direction. What do you want to see (or plan to see) this weekend? Leave your request in the comments and we’ll respond between 3:30pm and 5:30pm EDT. Details help. Let us know what you’re looking for, your preferences as a viewer, and any other relevant information you’d like to share, such as the streaming services you have access to.
Here are some examples of good queries from last week.
See you in the comments at 3:30pm EDT! In the meantime, please ignore the request.
