One of the most iconic modern TV shows is now available on Netflix: sci-fi drama “LOST” has been added to the streamer’s catalogue, with all six seasons currently available to stream.
Lost premiered on ABC in 2004 and ran for six seasons and 121 episodes before wrapping up with a controversial finale in 2010. The show began in dramatic fashion, with a two-part pilot episode (chronicling a plane crash and its aftermath) considered one of the greatest pilot episodes in television history.
The show tells the story of a group of plane crash survivors, each with their own unique personality and background, trying to escape from an island. However, escaping is not easy as the island has many complex mysteries that continue to unravel over the course of six seasons. Those who have not yet seen the show should be prepared for many twists and turns and questions that remain ambiguous and unanswered, including a controversial series finale. Fans are still debating and discussing how the show ended and what it really meant.
Adding to the complexity and sophistication of Lost’s storytelling technique is its use of flashbacks and flash-forwards to reveal more information about its characters, and then, ultimately, flash-side jumps to reveal what’s to come. did it It did happen in certain scenarios.
LOST was an instant hit on television and is remembered by many for the performances of its incredible cast, including Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway, Matthew Fox, Dominic Monaghan, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Emerson, Daniel Dae Kim and Naveen Andrews.
The idea for Lost came to then-ABC executive Lloyd Braun while he was sitting on a beach in Hawaii brainstorming ideas for a new show. Braun hired J.J. Abrams (long before the days of Star Trek and Star Wars) to flesh out the story and world, and brought on Damon Lindelof as writer. Carlton Cuse also served alongside Lindelof as showrunner.
Lost was born in the pre-Twitter era, when Myspace was the dominant form of social media. New episodes were released every week, and many viewers would chat with co-workers and friends about the events of the previous week’s episode while waiting for the next one. It was a different time, for sure.
If Lost isn’t your thing, Netflix added other TV shows and movies on July 1, including American Psycho, the Back to the Future trilogy, Big Daddy, Call Me By Your Name and Easy A. Check out the gallery below to see everything new on Netflix in July.
