The show is far too complicated to summarise here, but the gist is that it begins with the crash of Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 en route from Sydney to Los Angeles. The plane breaks up in mid-air, scattering the passengers across a Pacific island. At first, the show seems like it’s going to be a simple search-and-rescue story, but then the show starts featuring polar bears (yes, there are polar bears roaming the island’s beaches) and hallucinations of deceased family members.
lost Essentially, the show is about the nature of reality and the line between science and faith. By unravelling the full backstories of its characters, the show also offers some addictive and engrossing meditations on fate and free will, philosophy, and the surprising possibilities of time itself.
There was no social media at the time the show aired (it also came out three years before the iPhone was released).
