It all depends on Oscar.
Every year, stars save their best red carpet looks for the Academy Awards, and that certainly seemed to be the case at the 2024 ceremony held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday. .
Black dresses were a major trend of the night, with many celebrities turning to the dark side in step-and-repeat fashion, including Vanessa Hudgens, Danielle Brooks, Issa Rae and Eva Longoria. Emma Stone, Hailee Steinfeld, Lupita Nyong’o and others took the opposite approach by embracing pastel colors.
Of course, the Oscar carpet is all about glitter. Zendaya, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Gabrielle Union all performed well in that department.
Below are our best-dressed picks from Sunday’s show.
Lupita Nyong’o
What could be better than a beaded and feathered Armani Privé dress in the same icy blue as Nyong’o’s fairytale Prada dress at the 2014 Oscars? She won her Best Supporting Actress award for this work. She was a slave for 12 years. ”
This dress was originally created for Nyong’o in 2020, and we’re glad it finally got its moment to shine. De Beers jewelry completed the dreamy look.
gabriel union
Let’s shine! Union boldly paired Carolina Herrera’s all-over embellished strapless mini dress with a crystal-encrusted column skirt from the same collection to create a peplum effect.
As if that wasn’t sparkling enough, she also added a giant aquamarine necklace from Tiffany & Co.
zendaya
From the deserts of Arrakis to the palm trees of Beverly Hills! Zendaya, who just finished her “Dune: Part 2” press tour packed with futuristic fashion moments, opted for her old-school charm at the Academy Awards instead in this shimmering rose-hued Armani Prive .
Bulgari’s giant pink morganite earrings were the perfect finishing touch.
Anya Taylor-Joy
Zendaya’s “Dune” co-star looked divine in a Dior Haute Couture bustier dress covered in cascading embroidery of flower petals. A reimagining of the fashion house’s famous Venus Dress. (Natalie Portman wore a matching Dior reproduction of her Junon dress, featuring similar scale-like details, at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.)
Tiffany diamonds accentuated this saying, including a dazzling necklace set with an 8-carat marquise diamond.
emma stone
Vera Baxter would definitely approve of Stone’s dramatic mint-colored Louis Vuitton dress she chose for the Oscars. Stylist Petra Flannery says its pannier-like peplum and “sorbet” hue are reminiscent of the “Poor Things” palette and Victorian-era costumes.
A 30-carat yellow diamond necklace from Louis Vuitton High Jewelery accessorized the actress’ gorgeous jacquard dress.
lily gladstone
The “Killers of the Flower Moon” star is the first Native American actress to be nominated for Best Actress, and Gucci is nominated for Mohawk, Cree and Comanche artist Joe Bigg of Iron Horse Quillwork. – Celebrated indigenous craftsmanship with the Oscar dress created in collaboration with Mt.
The deep blue velvet design features a matching cape with a floral feather motif, which is also reflected in the Gladstone earrings. Bvlgari provided her with colorful jewelry.
america ferrera
Margot Robbie opted for black on Oscar night, so we appreciate her co-star’s decision to give Barbie pink one last look to close out awards season.
This pink metal mesh Atelier Versace column gown fit Ferrera like a glove, and we also loved the rubellite-encrusted Pomellato choker and cocktail ring that matched the dress.
Colman Domingo
No one is better dressed this awards season than Rustin nominee Domingo, who opted for a Louis Vuitton double-breasted tuxedo with crystal buttons and flared pants.
He accessorized with Louis Vuitton cowboy boots, an Omega watch, David Yuman jewelry, including an ornate brooch on his bow tie, and a pinky ring that once belonged to Bayard Rustin himself. Ta.
“I wanted to shine like a diamond,” Domingo told Laverne Cox on the red carpet. Mission complete.
