Smooth and plump cheeks. A wrinkle-free forehead.
These are features we’ve grown accustomed to among Botox and filler-obsessed celebrities.
But a new look is emerging in Hollywood: sunken eyes, thinner cheeks, and sagging skin.
Experts blame the growing popularity of weight loss drugs. This side effect is called “Ozempik face.”
Famous Lothario Scott Disick scared fans with his dramatic new look last month, but it looks like many other celebs are struggling with the same problem.
New Jersey plastic surgeon Dr. Smita Ramanadham told DailyMail.com:
“Signs of loss of facial volume and loss of facial fat include more sunken cheeks, sagging skin, and an overall hollowing out of the facial features.
“In some cases, it can actually make a person look older, because cheek fat gives us a youthful appearance.”
Dr. Sue Decotis, a weight loss expert who has prescribed Ozempic to thousands of patients, added that people with long faces can see weight loss more dramatically because their skin stretches.
Ozempic has taken the U.S. by storm, with more than 9 million prescriptions written in the last three months of 2022.
When the surgeons, including Georgia plastic surgeon Dr. Nicholas Jones, were shown photos of 15 celebrities who had recently lost weight, more than half, mostly men, said they looked like Ozempic. .
They said it’s even harder to spot in women because they traditionally use fillers or hide imperfections with makeup.
Topping the list is John Goodman, whose face, experts say, has lost a lot of volume, resulting in sagging skin and wrinkles.
Dr. Ramanadham said, “He hasn’t made any news regarding Ozempic, so I don’t know if it’s true…”
“But even if you’ve just lost weight, you’ll notice that as you lose weight, your face becomes more wrinkled and deflated compared to when you gained weight and your face was fuller.
“These changes are very typical of overall weight loss, regardless of whether weight loss drugs were used.”
John, 71, lost 200 pounds over 10 years. To do this, he reduced the amount of food he ate, took his dog for daily walks, and at one point cut out sugar and alcohol from his diet.
He has not said he used Ozempic, but a photo was released this month of him looking particularly emaciated at a New York City airport.
Scott Disick, who has been heavily rumored to be participating in Ozempic, is also on the list, with doctors pointing out that he has sunken areas under his eyes.
But surgeons said it was unusual for weight-loss drugs to cause such a drastic change in his appearance and that other factors may be at play, including whether he was actively using the drugs. He said that it suggests.
They also ranked Robbie Williams among the celebrities with Ozempic’s face. Ramanadham says: “You can see that the area under the eyes and cheeks are sunken and wrinkles have increased due to the loss of volume.” With Robbie, you can see the direct results of your weight loss. ”
Dr. Decotis added, “He looks like a completely different person!” He has a longer face and the weight loss definitely makes him look very toned. ”
The Angels star, 50, revealed he lost 25 pounds last year, blaming it on “something like Ozempic” and calling the weight loss a “Christmas miracle.”
In women, both doctors said Sharon Osbourne, also 71, is the most dramatic example of Ozempic’s face. Sharon Osbourne lost 42 pounds at Ozempic and revealed that she “just couldn’t stop losing weight” afterward.
“Her eyes look more sunken and her cheeks look more sunken,” Dr. Ramanadham said. “Her facial volume has also decreased significantly, and wrinkles have increased accordingly.”
They also both noted that their nasolabial folds, the lines from the side of their nose to the corner of their mouth, were becoming more pronounced.
Dr. Jones said of Jessica, “If you look at her previous photos, her face is fuller and has more volume.”
“But when you look at later photos, her eyes are more sunken, her face is more sunken, and her cheeks are not as full. Her face looks a little haggard, but in fact, she looks like she’s starved. is.”
Although Jessica has never said she used weight loss drugs, she previously revealed that she lost 100 pounds between 2019 and 2020.
Surgeons were also asked to determine whether Ozempic caused Liam Payne’s facial features, 30.
But they said this is more closely related to buccal fat removal surgery, or the removal of fat pads from the cheeks. His chiseled features suggested he hadn’t experienced any significant weight loss.
Dr Jones said: “Losing a lot of weight can cause a lot of sagging skin. But that’s not the case with Liam.”
