Santa Margarita is in a tough spot in the Trinity League baseball race.
The Eagles (16-6-1, 7-3) scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to remain tied for first place with Orange Lutheran in a 5-2 road win over Servite on Tuesday.
Three consecutive walks loaded the bases and broke the tie at 2-2. Cade Townsend had 10 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Chris Saucedo had a strikeout in the sixth inning, and Brennan Bauer had a save in the seventh. Gavin Spiridonov finished with two RBIs. Santa Margarita defeated Orange Lutheran twice in three straight games, so if they continue to tie, the Eagles will take first place in the league in the tiebreaker and advance to the Division 1 playoffs.
Orange Lutheran 7, Mater Dei 2: Vinnie Hudson had three RBIs, and Josiah Hartshorne and Gabe Frazier each had two hits, contributing to the Lancers’ Trinity League victory.
St. John Bosco 3, J Sera 2: For the Braves, McQuaid Maxwell and Noah Everly each had two hits. Jack Champlin pitched 4 2/3 innings and gave up no runs in relief.
Crespi 6, St. Francis 1: Freshman Justin Kim pitched a complete game and Troy Miller had two hits to lead the Celts. Julian Weiss had two RBIs.
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 2, Sierra Canyon 0: For Notre Dame, Nate Kugler had a shutout win, with Dom Cadiz and John Traynor having RBI doubles. Sierra Canyon freshman Sean Parrow pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed one run. In last week’s 1-0 loss to St. Francis, Kugler had six strikeouts and two walks.
Bishop of Alemany 3, Chaminade 2: Alemany had a walk-off hit by Jacob Ortega in the seventh inning. Nolan Mowry and Isaiah Hahn each had two hits for Chaminade.
Harvard-Westlake 7, Loyola 2: Bryce Reiner contributed a home run, double, single, and two RBIs, pitched two scoreless innings, and finished the game on the mound with five strikeouts. Auggie Lopez replaced Loyola with a home run and a double.
Bishop Amato 6, La Salle 2: The Lancers scored four runs in the seventh inning to break the 2-2 tie. Miguel Perez finished with three hits. Aaron Sandlin gave up two runs in six innings.
Arlington 8, Patriots 2: Arlington improved to 20-2.
Calabasas 6, Oaks Christian 1: For Calabasas, Matthew Witkow had two hits and Jordan Kingston had nine strikeouts in six innings.
Westlake 5, Newbury Park 2: Will Kaczynski had four RBIs to help the Warriors stay tied for first place in the Marmonte League with Calabasas. Andrew Haberman pitched six innings.
Beckman 6, Woodbridge 1: Isaiah Kapur hit a two-run double and Beckman finished with two hits. Zach Ireland pitched a complete game.
Girl 13, Norwalk 1: Ryan Rodriguez had two hits and three RBIs.
Corona del Mar 3, Laguna Beach 1: Stevie Jones (8-1) had two hits for Corona del Mar.
South Hills 3, Walnut 2: Matt Manzo hit a two-run single that won the game for South Hills.

Garden Grove Pacifica 2, Placentia Valencia 0: Bryn Nally had five strikeouts and one walk. Kaniyah Bragg had two hits.
Orange Lutheran Church 9, Santa Margarita Church 3: Brianne Weiss had 14 strikeouts and Zara Minero had four RBIs with two doubles.
