The show has faced controversy from some local leaders and has drawn mixed reactions from the public since it was released to the public.
One of the inmate participants, Rashard Scott, 27, of Little Rock, said the experience was unique.
“It wasn’t 11 p.m. and 1 p.m. I could come out whenever I wanted, I didn’t have to be substituted, and it felt good,” he said.
Scott has been in and out of prison over the years and may face multiple charges in the future, but said he still felt a change was needed when he finished filming. Ta.
“I’m just staying in the Bible and keeping my faith in God,” Scott said.
DIM Way, a pallet manufacturing company in North Little Rock, has a second-chance program in partnership with a court-ordered program that allows convicted felons like Scott to work there.
Scott added how helpful it is to work there because of his “ability to be organized and do what needs to be done and stay on the right track.”
LaToya Moore is the manufacturing company’s chief operating officer and one of Scott’s supervisors. She said he was one of the hardest workers.
“He started out shooting guns by hand with a nail gun, but now he’s become a better machine operator,” Moore said. “He is one of the hardest workers I have in the warehouse.”
Moore said he can see that Scott is trying to make a difference for the better, noting that Scott has been one of the longest-serving through the program.
Scott advises people who are on a bad path that it’s never too late to change your life.
“I’m trying to stay on the right path, not the narrow path. I’m trying to have faith in God and just change instead of going back to old habits,” Scott said.
