Queen Latifah recently thanked Taraji P. Henson for speaking up for black actresses about low pay in Hollywood.
“Taraji, thank you for standing up for all of us,” Latifah said in her opening monologue at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.
The show's host then called on all black actresses to stand up on behalf of everyone in recognition.
Later, as the stars tried to take their seats, Latifah asked them not to sit down yet, saying, “Everyone in this hall please stand up for all the black actresses who have represented us.” he asked.
“Please support us. Come join us. Because you are the ones next to us every day. We know that and we want to show our gratitude.” she added.
At the ceremony, Henson took to the stage to receive the coveted award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. the color purple.
During her acceptance speech, Henson thanked everyone who supported her when she first spoke out about the pay gap in Hollywood during the film's press tour.
“I just want to thank you all for always being there for me. Not just going to the box office and seeing my situation, but you all seeing what happened and you all coming and showing up.” You showed me love,” Henson said.
She said: “It's scary to tell the truth, but I encourage you to tell it because, at the end of the day, it's all we can do.”
