context
It may not be long before we see a successor to the Quest 2.
This is the second permanent price reduction for the Quest 2 base model and accessories since the beginning of the year. The intent is clear. Meta is trying to clear out its warehouses before the more affordable new generation Quest 2 is announced.
According to reliable reports, a new Meta Quest to replace Quest 2 will be released later this year. The headset, called the Quest 3 Lite or Quest 3S, is rumored to feature the same chip as the Quest 3, but with Fresnel Quest 2 lenses and a single display solution, for a lower price tag of around $300. We realized this. The Quest 3 costs $500.
That means the Quest 2 could quickly become obsolete. If you want to buy a future-proof device that will support all the new VR games within 3-4 years, you will have to be patient. Meta itself has not confirmed these reports and has not announced any new products for Quest. However, the fact that the 256GB version is no longer being sold and the price of the 128GB version continues to drop is a strong indication that a successor is on the way.
