Red Eye made its long-awaited debut on Sunday night, and viewers are sure to recognize some of the faces starring in the new drama.
Preview ads for the much-hyped thriller have been airing frequently on ITV in recent weeks, giving viewers the chance to see The Stranger and Fool Me Once star Richard Armitage as Dr. Matthew Nolan. will be seen for the first time. He attends a medical conference in Beijing, almost dies in a car accident, and is arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport as soon as he returns home. A woman’s body is found in Nolan’s crashed car, and despite his protests that he was driving alone, Nolan must return to China to face charges.
Dr. Nolan’s plight is at the heart of Red Eye, which spotlights the struggles of other characters as well. DC Hannah Lee is a no-nonsense London police officer charged with accompanying Nolan on his return to Beijing. She was born in Hong Kong and has a traumatic past, so she doesn’t want to go.

Returning to London is Hannah’s half-sister Jess Leigh, a difficult journalist played by Gemma Moore, with whom she has an uneasy relationship. Jess uses her assignment from Hana to independently investigate Nolan’s extradition, and she finds herself on the run from an unknown and deadly assassin.
And finally, Madeleine Delaney, the head of MI5, breaks with tradition and not only helps Hannah and Nolan survive, but also suspects that both Chinese and her own government officials are involved in the mid-flight murder. Risks his entire career to expose an international conspiracy. 357.
