The nostalgic 1990s knockabout shooter Rise of the Triad was remastered and re-released last year as Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition. As our own Sean Prescott said at the time, it hasn’t aged very well, but it still needs to be played. It’s a self-paced historical artifact with some fun power-ups and more hidden doors than Dracula’s Castle, and it just got an update.
Version 1.1 brings cross-platform multiplayer. This means Steam and GOG players will finally be able to give up on each other, and they’ll also be able to play with friends on Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. Also, a replacement Lightning Guard enemy (the last character cut from the beta to be restored for the Ludicrous Edition) has been added, and each level’s map screen will display kills and secret completions.
Other additions include a toggle to turn off the feature that automatically switches when picking up a new weapon, a jukebox in the level editor, and a default sound setting called “less deafening” in the patch notes It will be. Here is the complete list of changes:
