The problem with time-sensitive superlatives is that they are temporary in nature.
Hyperbole like “best movie of the year” implies that better movies may be coming, so a modifier like “so far” is usually added just in case. can be added.
I have no such concerns about “Sasquatch Sunset.” I’m sure there won’t be a weirder movie this year. Or maybe last year or next year. The film, directed by David and Nathan Zellner, follows a year in the life of a Sasquatch family.
that’s it. There is no dialogue, only moans and moans. There are some well-known actors, including Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough, but they’re so buried under Sasquatch makeup that they’re almost unrecognizable. It’s scatological in the extreme and full of absurdist, slapstick humor, especially in the early stages.
‘civil war’This is one of the most difficult movies to watch and one of the most important movies you’ll see this year
What is “Sasquatch Sunset”?
Also, if you could just put that into a movie, it would be really fascinating. Needless to say, this movie isn’t for everyone. It would be disingenuous to describe this film as a meditation on what it means to be human or something so sublime, but it is a thoughtful and poignant work.
I have to get through all the poop.
The film is divided into four segments for each season. There’s an alpha male type played by Nathan Zellner. There’s a woman played by Keogh. Eisenberg plays a sort of second-in-command type, and Christophe Zajac-Denek plays a young Sasquatch. This is one of his movies where at first you think you won’t be able to tell the characters apart. Then he becomes so distinctive after 15 minutes that you can’t even think which is which.
We experience the full Sasquatch experience. It includes birth, death, and everything in between, including sex, anger, jealousy, panic, cooperation, selfishness, stupidity, curiosity, and every conceivable bodily function.
Although we do not see humans, we are aware of their presence. And that is not something to be welcomed. Trees in the forest are marked with red crosses, which confuses Sasquatch, but he knows that means they are marked for felling. Some of them come across empty campsites. It’s fascinating to see Keogh’s character face the mirror for the first time. She doesn’t know what to do with it. But everyone seems to agree that music coming from a boombox isn’t for them.
At one point, they see their first paved road. They are appalled to see it go in two directions and seem to go on forever. Their reaction is to express their discomfort and fear in the strongest way physically possible.
Riley Keough and Jesse Eisenberg are unrecognizable
It’s easy to forget that these are purely mythical creatures (with apologies to those who uncovered the truth about Sasquatch). The way this movie is made, they look like an ever-evolving prehistoric human race.
In fact, Sasquatch does not have a specific destination, but is always on the move. More or less, they arrive at one, and it is surprisingly moving. If so, what kind of future awaits them?
The Zellners make cool, weird movies. “Damsel” puts a dark spin on westerns, while “Kukimo the Treasure Hunter” is a heartbreaking take on the quest movie (an exhausted woman believes the movie “Fargo” is a treasure map). Masu). Indeed, “Sasquatch Sunset” is the strangest and certainly the grossest of his elevator pitches. It is also the most heartfelt for them.
