A new 2D action platform roguelike game was released today. Ants Took My Eyeball challenges you to descend into an ever-changing anthill in search of lost body parts. It’s your job to advance as far as you can, switching between melee weapons, ranged weapons, gadgets, and trinkets before coming back to try again.
It’s a very fun, fast-paced experience that emphasizes twitch-based shooting and smashing action, and really comes into its own as you improve with each new run. Your items will also be upgraded along the way through the hive by scrapping extra items to get gold and parts and upgrading the best of the available loot.
The deeper you go, the more gems you can find, and those gems have many useful effects during trials in the anthill. This will give you a permanent upgrade to boost yourself at the beginning of your journey to the anthill. “And there’s also a chance that other permanent unlocks can be found somewhere deep within the anthill,” says developer Bosmic Forge.
Ants Took My Eyeball also has 4-player local co-op play, with Steam’s Remote Play Together feature enabled. Supports both controller and keyboard and mouse.
Ants Took My Eyeball is developed by Bosmic Forge, a small indie development team located in Tampere, Finland. Although the team has worked on a series of past game jam projects, some of which served as the basis for new games, Ants Took My Eyeball is Bosmic Forge’s first commercial release.
Ants Take My Eyeball can be found on Steam and its official website.
