Disney’s live-action Space Mountain has just received its first major update in years, THR reports that Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec are attached to the screenplay.
The duo is best known for Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop and Prime Video’s spy series Citadel. The latest information about the Space Mountain movie dates back to 2020, when it was revealed that Obi-Wan Kenobi screenwriter Joby Harold was involved in writing the film. Harold will continue to serve as producer.
Space Mountain is one of the Disney park attractions, following in the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean series and 2021’s Jungle Cruise starring Emily Blunt and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This is Disney’s latest work to turn two into feature films. The most recent Ride film adaptation was released last year in “The Haunted Mansion,” which was one of several Disney films that struggled at the box office last year.
One of the first thrill rides at the Disney parks, Space Mountain first opened at the Walt Disney Resort in 1975, followed by a second version introduced at California’s Disneyland in 1977. For a long time, he remains one of the most popular attractions at Disneyland, with various versions created. In parks in Tokyo, Paris, and Hong Kong.
I hope this movie does better than Appelbaum and Nemec’s Cowboy Bebop, which was canceled after one season after being heavily criticized by fans. In addition to their television roles, the pair have appeared in films including Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol and the 2014 and 2016 live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films.
