Stellan Skarsgård revealed he was hesitant about starring in the movie Mamma Mia!But once I realized that just looking cute and being silly was enough, I was hooked.
The veteran actor recently admitted vanity fair When she was asked to appear in a musical film with Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried in 2008, she said she was surprised at first because she can’t sing or dance.
“It was a stupid thing to ask me to be in a musical,” Skarsgård said. “I can’t sing, I can’t dance. And then I realized that Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth were also in the cast, and they couldn’t sing or dance either, so I felt a little relieved to be there.”

“We knew that we were supposed to be sluts, like in a movie made by men, directed by men, starring men. And in this women’s production, we knew we should be sluts. We were the sluts,” he explained. “We didn’t have to do anything other than look cute and be silly. The only thing we were asked to do was, ‘Have fun, because if you don’t have fun, it won’t be a movie.’ Ta.”
Skarsgard also recalled that he and Firth at least tried to hone their singing and dancing skills, but without much success.
“Me and Colin come to dance lessons wearing slacks and little Paul Smith shirts and all that, and there’s 60 other dancers dressed up like dancers,” the actor said. “We tried really hard for a month and a half to dance to Voulévous, but we failed.”
