A frightening incident occurred late Saturday night at Universal Studios Hollywood when a tour tram in the studio backlot crashed into a railing, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene Saturday around 9 p.m.
LASD Lt. Maria Abal said the four-car streetcar being used for the theme park’s studio backlot tour suffered brake problems and crashed into a railing.
Ten people were injured, including one seriously, according to preliminary information from the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department later announced on social media that 15 patients were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.
It’s unclear exactly what happened to the tram’s brakes or whether the theme park’s operations were affected. Universal Studios officials could not be reached for comment Saturday.
