Taylor Swift is taking fans on a journey through stages of grief and heartbreak with new album tortured poet sectionreleased on Friday.
The singer-songwriter released an album containing 16 songs. Two songs are collaborations with Post Malone and Florence + The Machine. There are also four bonus tracks of hers, “The Manuscript”, “The Balter”, “The Albatross”, and “The Black Dog”, which are included on various records of her version of the album.
On Instagram, Swift called the album “a new anthology of events, opinions, and emotions that reflect the events, opinions, and emotions of a fleeting, fatalistic moment that was both sensational and equally sad.”
“This period in the author’s life is over. The chapter is closed and boarded up,” she continued. “There is nothing to take revenge on, no score to settle once the wound heals. On further reflection, I realize that a significant number of them are self-inflicted. I firmly believe that your tears become sacred in the form of ink on the page. Once you tell your saddest story, you can be freed from it and what is left behind is full of agony. Only poetry.”
Ahead of the album’s release, Swift revealed that the album’s first single will be “Fortnite,” featuring Post Malone. “I’m a big fan of Post because he’s a writer and his musical experiments and the melodies he creates are forever haunting. When we worked together on Fortnite, I got to see magic come to life with my own eyes,” Swift wrote on Instagram alongside a photo with Post Malone.
Spotify also revealed on Thursday that the album became the audio streamer’s most saved album, Countdown Page, in its history.
In April, Swift surprised fans by announcing her next album while winning the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
“This is my 13th Grammy,” Swift said while accepting the award. “We would like to thank the members of the Recording Academy for voting in this way, but we know that the way the Recording Academy votes is a direct reflection of the passion of our fans. I’d like to tell you a secret I’ve been keeping and say ‘thank you’ to my fans: My new album will be released on April 19th.
Following the announcement, Swift further teased her upcoming album on social media by sharing the album cover, a black and white image of herself lying in bed. She teased again. “And I have the proof / My tarnished emblem / My muse, worn like a birthmark / My talismans and talismans / Love bombs tick, tick, my black ink veins / Everything Love and Poetry is going well.”
In the weeks leading up to the album’s release, the singer provided further insight about the album, with fans speculating that it was about her breakup with ex-boyfriend actor Joe Alwyn. Fans have also pointed out how similar the album’s title is to the WhatsApp group chat ‘Torchard Man Club’. Alwyn said he is part of Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal. The album’s songs, with titles such as “So Long London” and “I Can Do It Even with a Broken Heart,” seem to allude to the breakup and the British actor.
Swift released five exclusive playlists on Apple Music that explore the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance, confirming that heartbreak will be a major theme on the album.
Swift also posted a video of herself typing on a typewriter, “Crowds going wild at my fingertips/Half moonshine, full eclipse,” ahead of the April 8 total solar eclipse, the first song on the album. I made fun of the lyrics.
Ahead of the album’s release, Swift’s music is back on TikTok, months after it was removed from TikTok as part of an ongoing dispute between the social video platform and Universal Music Group, which distributes Swift’s music. I’m back.
The album follows Swift’s previous releases. midnight The album was released in October 2022 and won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year.
