I was wondering if there would be a sequel. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, That had been answered “yes” months ago, but we didn’t know when that would happen. Paramount announced this morning that Mutant Mayhem II, or whatever they end up calling it, is gearing up for his fall 2026 release.
Seth Rogen’s Point Gray Pictures will once again produce the film, with Jeff Lowe returning to direct. At this point, no one knows what the plot will be, but if you watch the credits for the first movie all the way through, you’ll get a hint as to who the bad guys are. (You might not even need to do that; it’s not that hard to guess.)
2026 isn’t exactly tomorrow, but the Ninja Turtles have a lot to do between now and then. The next TMNT animated series will be an extension of the movie, featuring the same super-teenage versions of Don, Leo, Raph, and Mike. The film’s cast (Nicolas Cantu, Brady Noone, Micah Abbey, and Shamon Brown Jr.) also provide voices. What it lacks in the budget for painstakingly detailed CG/hand-drawn hybrid animation, it makes up for with a nifty 2D scratchy look.
Later this year, the “Mutant Mayhem” video game will be released on consoles and PC, as well as a port of the 2017 arcade game (which used a version of the Turtles from two previous reboots).
If you asked Kid Me if the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would still be around in about 30 years, I’d say, “No way, no one will have heard of them by then.” He would have scoffed. However, that has never happened and their longevity is incredible. Nickelodeon has been a great steward of its properties, reinventing them every few years. And none of the versions were terrible. It continues to be a great series for both children and adults.
