Tesla is recalling about 4,000 Cybertrucks to fix a problem with the accelerator pedal pad.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a recall on Friday, citing a throttle problem that could increase the risk of accidents.
It’s unclear whether this will apply to all Cybertruck models or just a few, but at least 3,878 are expected to return to factories this summer.
The electric four-wheel-drive vehicle has a starting price of £66,000 and is billed as “durable and tough enough to go anywhere” and is a favorite among celebrities.
Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Kim Kardashian are all reportedly owners of the car, as are Serena Williams, Spike Lee, and Bad Bunny.
But the pedal pad issue is the latest flaw in the development of the vehicle, which was launched late last year after a two-year delay.
In December, a clip went viral online showing a Cybertruck stuck on a California hillside and having to be towed by an apparently more rugged Ford model.
Tesla announced that the Cybertruck can tow up to 5,000 kg and go from 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds.
The manufacturer will replace or repair the accelerator pedal assembly free of charge and owners will be notified via letter mailed in June.
Tesla carried out three recalls in the first quarter of 2024, affecting approximately 2.4 million vehicles, according to a report from recall management company BizzyCar.
The company’s shares fell nearly 3% on Friday.
No other car company in the world has the level and reach that these celebrities naturally generate by driving some of the hottest products in the world right now. Tesla doesn’t need to advertise because these people will do it for you.

Tesla owner Elon Musk hasn’t commented on Ta.
“Well, they obviously have great taste,” Musk tweeted in February.
“Importantly, no one (including myself) receives a discount, nor is anyone paid to promote our products.”
