According to a Canadian newspaper, Apple is preparing to move its retail store on St. Catherine Street in Montreal, Quebec. La Presse.
The report said Apple plans to open a new retail store in a 125-year-old historic building at 1255 St. Catherine Street, less than 100 meters from the company’s current store on the street. This is quoted from three people involved. Apple contractors are said to be carrying out major renovations to the building, which has been vacant for several years since clothing retailer Arden moved out.
bloombergMark Garman reported last year that Apple was considering relocating its St. Catherine store. He said at the time that Apple was aiming to open the new store in February 2025, but the timing was subject to change. La Presse The company reported that Apple’s current on-street space is already listed as available for lease online. Apple has not announced any plans to relocate its stores and did not respond to our inquiries.
Apple’s existing two-story store on Rue Sainte-Catherine in downtown Montreal’s Ville-Marie neighborhood first opened in 2008. According to Apple’s website, the store will be temporarily closed for one day on Tuesday, April 23 for unknown reasons.
The new store will be Apple’s first store in a historic building in Canada, and many of the company’s other stores in the country are in indoor shopping malls. Apple recently moved its store to the Square One Shopping Mall in Mississauga, Ontario, just west of Toronto, as it continues to modernize its Canadian retail footprint.

A week after Apple updated its app review guidelines to allow emulators of retro gaming consoles, a Game Boy emulator for iPhone called iGBA has arrived on App Stores worldwide. This emulator is already one of the top free apps on the App Store charts. It wasn’t entirely clear if Apple would allow any games to work in the emulator, but the iGBA can load the Game Boy’s ROM.
