“Girls5eva” Seasons 1-3
Start streaming: March 14th
After failing to find an audience on Peacock, the funny and upbeat sitcom Girls5eva has brought its first two seasons and an all-new third season to Netflix. A sharp satire of the modern music business, the series follows four middle-aged singers who were once part of a chart-topping girl group as they attempt a comeback at a time when almost no one remembers their five minutes of fame on MTV. I’m following the figure. In Season 3, the women embark on a low-budget concert tour and learn what it takes to make a living in 2020s pop. Creator Meredith Scardino and her writing staff fill each episode with rapid-fire jokes, catchy songs, and savvy pop culture references, all while bringing the talented and funny Sara Bareilles and Busy Philipps to life. Always respecting the dignity and dreams of her four friends. Paula Pell and Renee Ellis Goldsberry.
“The Three-Body Problem” Season 1
Start streaming: March 21st
“Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss are returning to television with an adaptation of Liu Cixin’s award-winning sci-fi novel “The Three-Body Problem,” co-created with Alexander Wu. An ensemble piece set in multiple eras, the drama is partly about a woman (Jing Zheng) who makes difficult choices to survive China’s Cultural Revolution, and partly about a British group known as the “Oxford Five.” About an eclectic group of young scientists and some government officials (Benedict Wong) who investigate a series of mysterious deaths in academia. Touching on world politics, virtual reality, and contact with extraterrestrial life, the story explores the moment when one phase of human existence appears to be about to give way to another.
