A new work by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the manga artist famous for “Chainsaw Man,” is brought to life as an anime. “Look Back” is an upcoming movie based on the manga artist’s one-shot title. The first trailer of the animated film, released on April 17 (IST), quickly grabbed attention as it sparked interest with its adorable animation-style visuals.
The premiere of the upcoming film, directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama (Flip Flappers), also features the main theme “Light Song,” movingly composed by Haruka Nakamura, with Urara’s voice lending inspiration to the melody. giving. “Look Back” is scheduled to be released in Japan on June 28, 2024.

Tatsuki Fujimoto’s story fleshes out its meta-narrative through the friendship of its co-protagonists built around a shared love of drawing manga. As the small-town girls bridge the gap with their mutual affinity for this hobby, their seemingly separate personalities find common ground, sustained by the warmth of friendship and art.

The English translated version of the Look Back manga is available on VIZ Media. Fujimoto’s 142-page one-shot originally started on Shonen Jump+ in July 2021.
Along with today’s trailer release, a key art visual/poster was also released. Kiyoshi Samejima will serve as art director, and Studio Dorian will support production.
Yumi Kawai will play the role of “overconfident” Fujino, and Mizuki Yoshida will play the role of Kyomoto, his platonic partner and “recluse.”
News of a film adaptation of The Look Back was first announced in March. Even though Fujimoto’s masterpiece, Chainsaw Man, and its corresponding film chapter were animated by Studio Mappa, the fate of his short stories is tied to Studio Dorian.
