The Tennessean won four awards in the 2023 Super Bowl sports journalism competition, including top 10 in circulation and digital.
Sports editors and journalists from around the country voted for the top 10 in various writing, website, print newspaper, and photography categories, divided into four divisions based on newspaper circulation and digital readership size. . The Tennessean is in the B division along with other metro teams such as the Kansas City Star, Buffalo News, and Indianapolis Star.
The exact order of the writing and photography contests will be announced at a later date. Winners will not be ranked for website and print contests.
The Tennessee native finished in the top 10, the digital website’s highest honor, and received three other awards. Tennessee football beat writer Adam Sparks of Knox News made the top 10 for his authoritative investigative article, which groups all entries into one category rather than four circulation categories. He led the network with five total wins.
Four of the network’s news organizations were recognized: The Tennessean, Knox News, The Commercial Appeal and Daily News Journal.
