The tournament ended Sunday in Irving after the second round of the Invitational Celebrity Classic was canceled due to lightning and heavy rain that hit North Texas on Saturday.
The PGA Tour Champions was won by Paul Broadhurst, who shot a final round 66. The winner in the celebrity category was former professional tennis player Mardy Fish. It was Fish’s second win in the past three years.
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo joins Dallas-area athletes such as Emmitt Smith, Cowboys Ring of Honor member DeMarcus Ware, and former Rangers forward Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez. He was also a participant at the Las Colinas Country Club. Romo ended up leading the pack of these athletes with 68 points in the two-day tournament using a modified Stableford scoring system.
The tournament featured 78 PGA Tour pros and 40 celebrities.
Smith finished the day in a tie for 29th place, Rodriguez finished the day in 31st place and Ware was in 37th place at the end of the tournament.
