Travis Kelce’s entertainment resume continues to get longer.
The Kansas City Chiefs star tight end has officially booked his first regular TV appearance. He will host “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity” on Amazon’s Prime Video, the company announced Tuesday.
This is a new spin-off of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader,” which aired on Fox in 2009? Kelce is tasked with quizzing adults on a 6th grade level topic for a $100,000 prize. According to The Hollywood Reporter, contestants will rely on the help of a classroom full of celebrities. From his dramatic speeches after winning three Super Bowls with the Chiefs to hosting “Saturday Night Live” last year, it’s always been clear he’s comfortable working with a crowd. Back in 2016, he appeared on E!’s dating show titled “Catching Kelce.”
“I grew up loving game shows, so I’m excited to follow in the footsteps of so many television icons by hosting my first game show.” are you smarter than celebrities” Kelce said in a news release. “The original show has been a huge success, so bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities on screen will definitely be interesting. I’m very happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here. I’m looking forward to seeing how these famous faces continue.”
“Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” was originally hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy. In 2019, the show was revived by Nickelodeon with WWE star and actor John Cena. Well, Amazon wants to keep viewers guessing with the appearance of her Kelce.
“By replacing the kids with celebrities, we get even more Roast-like laughs and surprises as participants trick their famous classmates,” series co-creator Barry Poznick said in the announcement. I mentioned it inside. As a host, your audience should expect the unexpected. ”
Kelce currently co-hosts the podcast “New Heights” with his brother Jason Kelce, who recently retired after an illustrious career with the Philadelphia Eagles. Chiefs fans don’t have to worry about Kelce hanging up his cleats, though. The nine-time Pro Bowler and seven-time All-Pro announced in January that he sees no reason to quit football.
