Fatehpur police in Uttar Pradesh state said that a man addicted to online gaming killed his mother in order to claim life insurance money and settle a huge debt. The case unfolded as the accused, identified as Himanshu, allegedly killed his mother to secure her property. INR5 million in insurance money and later disposed of her body near the banks of the Yamuna river.
According to police, Himanshu was addicted to gaming on the popular platform Zupee. His addiction caused him to repeatedly borrow money to continue playing, resulting in him incurring almost 1 million yen in debt. INRAccording to police, the amount was 400,000 yen. Faced with a growing number of creditors, he devised a plan to pay off his debts.
Additional SP of Fatehpur said Himanshu allegedly stole the jewelery of his paternal aunt and used the proceeds to buy life insurance policies worth Rs 20 million. INR500,000 yen each to the parents. He then allegedly killed his mother Prabha by suffocating her when his father was away. His body was then hidden in a gunny bag and taken by tractor to the banks of the Yamuna river for disposal.
When Roshan Singh, Himanshu’s father, returned from the Chitrakoot temple, he found that his wife and son were not at home. After asking neighbors and visiting his brother’s residence nearby, he found that no one knew Prabha’s whereabouts. A neighbor said he had seen Himanshu riding a tractor near the river, and Roshan called the police.
Later, Prabha’s body was recovered from near the Yamuna river and Himanshu was arrested soon after. During his interrogation, Himanshu reveals his amazing plan that he devised to murder his mother to relieve his debt burden.
