Valencia have refused permission for Netflix to film a documentary about Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior at their Mestalla stadium.
The streaming giant is producing a series about the Brazilian forward’s life and career, which will include footage of his most memorable matches.
However, Valencia rejected Netflix’s request to record footage of next week’s game against Real Madrid.
According to both Marca and Relevo, Valencia have vetoed access to the stadium and will not be shown in this documentary on the wrong side or in a negative light over which they have no control. He says he doesn’t want it.
According to reports in Spain, Valencia have also refused four interviews with coach Hugo Duro following a similar policy. The documentary spoke to Duro to get his thoughts on Vinicius Jr. after the strangulation incident last season. Valencia, wanting to avoid controversy, has rejected all four demands.
Next weekend’s match at the Mestalla was already scheduled to be very hostile, considering the events that took place last season, the racial and physical abuse of Vinicius Junior. This only adds fuel to the fire.
